Moose Claremont sits quietly on Bay View Terrace, blending a relaxed café vibe with a restaurant’s carefully curated menu. It’s the kind of spot where locals swing by for a solid coffee or a relaxed breakfast, yet you can also settle in for more substantial dishes that echo Nordic inspiration. Think Swedish meatballs served alongside creamy yet light mashed potatoes — a crowd-pleaser that draws repeat visitors who appreciate a comforting meal without feeling weighed down.

The atmosphere is unpretentious and inviting, leaning into simplicity rather than fussiness. You won’t find table service here; instead, guests grab a menu and place their order at the counter, fostering a laid-back dynamic where the focus remains on straightforward, well-made food and drinks. The café has a neat, sharp feel, reflective in both its clean plating and its bright, airy space. It offers a quiet place to meet a friend or spend a morning solo with a cappuccino or an iced mocha, which locals say are notably well-crafted and among the sweeter coffees around.

Breakfast options like eggs on toast or the substantial Moose burger cater to those looking for something more than the usual café fare, while freshly squeezed juices brighten the menu with a light, fresh touch. The spot seems especially inviting on weekend mornings or early afternoons when the light filters through and the pace slows down a notch, making it ideal for a casual catch-up or a solo coffee break.

One useful thing to keep in mind is parking — it’s limited right outside, so visitors often turn to street parking or the nearby Claremont Shopping Centre, which can be a bit of a walk but manageable for a good meal or coffee stop. The team behind the counter is friendly, and though the menu is modest, it’s packed with thoughtful details like rye breads, beetroot sides, and lingonberry, nodding to those Scandinavian roots.

Beyond regular café hours, Moose Claremont also serves as a local venue for creative events, such as art exhibitions supporting community causes, adding a layer of neighborhood connection that goes beyond its food and coffee. It’s a spot where you can expect simple, reliable flavors paired with a community-conscious atmosphere — especially appealing to those who appreciate understated quality and a connection to local life.

Forget going to IKEA for Swedish meatballs, Moose Claremont is the place to go for it! Super tasty meatballs with creamy but ‘light’ Mashed potatoes that isn’t too rich on the palate. My wife had the Jonas breakfast , they’re really generous with the bacon that she gave me some…lucky me I Will be back

I have to say, the coffee at Moose Cafe might just be the sweetest I've ever tasted! From the moment I saw the menu, I knew I was in for a treat. I decided to try the Swedish Meatballs, and let me tell you, it was a fantastic choice. My daughter and I shared this dish, and it was absolutely delicious. I also ordered a breakfast item for myself, and it was equally satisfying. Moose Cafe was the perfect spot to catch up with my friend visiting from Indonesia before he headed to the airport. It provided a quiet and comfortable atmosphere for us to chat. The location might not be immediately obvious, but if you follow Google Maps, you'll find it easily. It's tucked away, but definitely worth seeking out. It can get quite busy during lunchtime, which is a testament to the great food and atmosphere. I highly recommend Moose Cafe for a delightful lunchtime experience!

This is a great little spot out of the way in Claremont. I have been here before but got another hankering for it after reading a blurb about cafes in the area. The food is clean, sharp and neat just like the atmosphere. The menu is limited but packed with things I want to try so I will be back again.

Nice Cafe, food arrived quickly one ordered. No table service, had to get own menu and water for table and of course to place order. Staff were friendly and service was good. Food was good and had great flavours and taste. Meatballs were over rated and not worth the cost as a side. No on-site parking at all. Some street parking if lucky. Only nearby parking is a Claremont Shopping centre only free if out in 3hr, so don't dilly dally windowshopping. NO Access for Mobility impaired 3 very steep steps at entrance.

Swedish cafe in Claremont. Bright and warm atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor dining. Theres a variety of brunch dishes on the menu. The meatball was meaty paired with appetising sour beetroot salad and slightly sweet rye bread. The meatball/potato hash was well seasoned, paired with salted pickles. Coffee was great. Theres also a selection of Swedish candies for purchase. The service took awhile that day (definitely more than 30minutes) but worth the wait given quality of food

Have you been to this Claremont gem? ⬇ Save & share this cosy café spot! Moose Claremont is such a vibe Bright, airy, and welcoming — it's the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. I stopped by randomly, but now it's one of my favourite local cafés. The coffee? Delicious and smooth. The food? Fresh, flavourful, and reasonably priced. There's a great mix of indoor and outdoor seating, making it perfect for any weather. And yes — the Swedish pick & mix station is such a fun nostalgic touch Oh — and can we talk about the beautiful barista? That coffee comes with a side of charm. Have you tried Moose yet?
